Story[]
Spring Valley[]
Sonic, Tails, and Amy are jumping around in Spring Valley Zone. Tails spots something glowing in the ground. The crew walks over to the glowing item, revealing it to be a Chaos Emerald. Amy, Sonic, and Tails are surprised to see a Chaos Emerald, laying around. Sonic decides to help himself to the Chaos Emerald, which ends in the gem being taken by Metal Sonic. Amy and Tails are scared to see Metal Sonic, while Sonic is readying himself to fight. He asks Metal Sonic if he'll fight Sonic in a "high-speed race", a "high-speed battle", or a "high-speed battle-race". Metal Sonic leaves without an answer, which seems to disappoint Sonic. Sonic says that's "no fun" and runs after him. Metal Sonic flys into the air, which angers Sonic. Sonic asks Amy for a boost, which Amy gives a mental boost. Sonic adds "vertically", which makes Amy apologize. Amy hits Sonic with her Piko Piko Hammer, launching him into the air. Tails grabs Sonic by the hand and lifts him up into the sky. Tails throws Sonic at Metal Sonic. Sonic tries to grab the Chaos Emerald from Metal Sonic, but the robot, allegedly, hits Sonic and flys away. Sonic doesn't worry while he's falling, as he thinks his best buddy, Tails, will save him. However, Knuckles is the one to save him. Sonic asks Knuckles why he's so far from home. Knuckles says there's trouble.
It then cuts to a flashback with Knuckles and some animals on Mushroom Hill. One of the animals had found a Chaos Emerald, which Knuckles thought was odd that it was laying around in the open. Knuckles patted the animal on the head, right before he was ambushed by Metal Knuckles. They battled it out. Knuckles had had him "on the ropes", until he decided to chop down one of the giant mushrooms, almost crushing the animals. Knuckles had to save the animals from being crushed by the mushroom. That's when Metal Knuckles swiped up the Emerald, and flew away.
It cuts back to the present, with Knuckles saying that Metal Knuckles led him to Spring Valley. Everyone, but Sonic, seems surprised that Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles are here. Tails figured that Dr. Eggman must've sent the robots after the emeralds, and that he must be up to something. Knuckles is glad he knows what's going on, so he pats him very hard on the back. Sonic gets up and says that they're the heroes to get the job done. Amy is excited that she can go on an adventure with Team Sonic, and that she can see all of the action. However, The team had already left the scene, which saddens Amy. Amy tries to tell the heroes they forgot the Emerald Radar, but they can't hear. Amy is saddened by this and starts mumbling to herself. While Amy is mumbling, the Tails Doll is watching her from the grass. Amy is then shook up by Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel playing with giant rocks. One of the rocks lands near Amy, who seems to have gotten an idea. Mighty and Ray see the boulder almost hit Amy, and they run towards her to see if she's okay. Amy, Mighty, and Ray introduce themselves. Amy recognizes them from Sonic's adventures. Amy tells them that Eggman is after the Chaos Emeralds again, and she can't defeat him alone. Mighty asks Ray if he'll come along, and he says yes. Amy leads the way to Eggman. Tails Doll appears behind a rock, still staring at them.
