Sonic and Tails riding the Tornado.
The Tornado is a biplane owned by Sonic the Hedgehog and often piloted by Miles "Tails" Prower. The aircraft is often used by the duo for traveling to far off places, or to chase down large flying enemies, such as airships created by Dr. Eggman.
History[]
Flying off the Rails[]
Both Sonic and Tails used the plane to get to Flicky Island for a vacation, landing in Green Grove. (Sonic the Hedgehog: Tails' 30th Anniversary Special)
Test Run[]
At some point, Sonic and Tails took to the skies in the Tornado in order to field test Tail's jet booster.

Searching for Eggman Bases[]
Tails saves Sonic with the Tornado.
Sonic and Tails used the Tornado while searching for Eggman bases in an attempt to find out information on who was commanding the Badnik horde. When they came across an Egg Fleet battleship, Tails gave Sonic his Miles Electric to use to download any information on the ship, and Sonic left the Tornado and infiltrated the battleship. However, when Sonic later fell off the battleship following a battle with Neo Metal Sonic, Tails caught Sonic on the Tornado and escaped Neo Metal Sonic's ship. (StH: #7)

In order to recreate E-123 Omega's body, Sonic and Tails went on the Tornado to investigate a badnik base near Windmill Village, with Sonic noticing it and wanting to investigate it further for a cypher for Eggman's programming code.

Appearance[]
The Tornado is an old vintage biplane. On each side is attached two gray main wings with red tips, and between each side's two wings is a pole that runs perpendicular to the wings. Its red fuselage has a power plant with a grey tractor screw and the word "SONIC" written in white on both sides with stretchy F-letter labels underlining them. The cockpit has only one seat. Its empennage has two small horizontal stabilizers and one vertical stabilizer, the latter emblazoned with an emblem of a Bumper from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series with wings.
Abilities[]
The Tornado is highly maneuverable. With its jet engine it is able to fly at impressive speeds.

Background Information[]
- The Tornado was based on the vehicle of the same name in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series where it first appeared in the 16-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It was unnamed in the comic, but its name is considered tier 2 canon by this site's canon policy, as it does not contradict already established canon from tier 1.
