For the unrelated walker vehicle used by Dr. Eggman of the same name, see Eggwalker

The Egg Walker is a line of Badnik created by Dr. Eggman to serve as his robot forces in his efforts to conquer the world.

History[]

The War to Take Back the Planet[]

After getting ahold of a mysterious artifact known as the Phantom Ruby, Dr. Eggman successfully defeated and captured Sonic the Hedgehog and conquered the majority of the planet. Either directly before this victory or shortly after, the Egg Walker was created and used by Eggman and his Eggman Empire. Thanks to the help of the Resistance (formed by Sonic's friends and allies and comprised of many more soldiers), other allies, and a past version of himself from an alternate reality, Sonic was freed and helped to stop Dr. Eggman's conquest and save the world from his clutches.[1][2] After Sonic stopped the mad genius, who disappeared after his defeat, the Egg Walkers were among the horde of Badniks that remained and continued to attack without a leader. Eventually, the Egg Walkers came under the control of Neo Metal Sonic, who made them and their fellow Badniks more cohesive. (StH: #1, #7)

Fallout[]

Egg Walkers battle Sonic

A group of Egg Walkers battle Sonic.

Soon after, a town was attacked by a Death Crab. Although it was stopped by the combined efforts of Sonic and Amy Rose, unbeknownst to them, it was only a decoy, as a Badnik army consisting of Egg Walkers and Egg Pawns invaded from the west. Although Sonic easily dispatched of a number of them, their sheer numbers quickly overwhelmed him as they made their way to the town square. Thanks to Amy Rose's directions, the Badniks that arrived there were quickly gunned down. Regardless, more Egg Walkers and Egg Pawns tried advancing into the town, but their numbers got so thinned out by Sonic and Amy that the town's militia was able to handle them. (StH: #2)

Misadventures[]

At least one Egg Walker was one of the badniks whop served to defend Egg Base Delta when it was attacked by the Chaotix and Knuckles the Echidna, when they thought that Eggman stole the Gold Statue.

Appearance[]

Based on an ostrich, the Egg Walker has a red body and short, round wings that serve no purpose. It also has thick gray thighs with two parallel bars making up its individual lower legs and narrow, shoe-like feet with brown spikes on the front. Its neck is made up of gray and brown spheres locked together, and it has a yellow beak with a missile launcher inside it. It also has a red head with round jaw joints, black and white eyes, and a brown feather-like comb. Lastly, it has yellow fins on its back and wings and yellow and black hazard stripes on the back tip of its wings.

Personality[]

Basically, the Egg Walker is a mindless and silent drone programmed to follow its leader's every command. As such, when left without a leader to follow, it becomes directionless and only able to cause harm by accident. Under a guiding force however, it is a cold and merciless machine who carries out their commands without question.

Abilities[]

The Egg Walker is equipped with a launcher in its mouth that can fire highly explosive missiles.

Background Information[]

  • The Egg Walker was based on the robot of the same name in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series where is was introduced in Sonic Forces. It was unnamed in the comic, but was confirmed as being named Egg Walker by writer Ian Flynn.[3]
  • The reason why the Egg Walkers' design differs from their game counterparts is because the Egg Walkers' design from Sonic Forces (which was the only game the Egg Walkers had appeared in at the time of their debut in the comics) was not available to the staff.[4] Their designs in the comics are meant to be their "regular", non-Sonic Forces looks.[5] It is possible that both versions appeared during the comic's version of the events of Sonic Forces.[6]
